The pine tree, the gall oak and the oak are trees typical of the canyon. The vegetation of the bank made up by black poplars and willows, will provide you with shade in the hottest days. The common vulture and the eagles, golden, culebrera and perdicera, overfly majestically. Amphibians, reptiles, fishes and mammals like the roe-deer, wild boar, rabbit, squirrel and hare make up the great family of animals that inhabit the canyon.

Calatañazor, from the Arabic Calatat-Nossurt, that means nest of the eagles, raises in the high of a mountain that dominates the fertile plaine of the river Abión. Of intense historical and natural environments, the episode known as Almanzor's Battle, has given reputation to this place, in which the Christians defeated the famous Arabic commander Almanzor in the year 1002. To walk along its picturesque streets will surprise the traveler, steep, paved and with its typical stone, mud and wood constructed houses, finished off with conical chimneys. The whole Calatañazor is a monument, a trip to the past. Orson Welles filmed here some scenes from the movie “Rings to midnight ".

Located in Vinuesa at the foot of the Urbión's Peaks, it is called “Court of the Pine forests".

Surrounded with pines, beeches and ferns, it reaches the peak of its beauty with the winter snow.

Soria is a province placed to the North-East of Spain, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It offers incredible places that inspired love in poets like Bequer and Machado..... Two regions are distinguishable: land of Ágreda, with the capital in Ágreda, in the eastern part bordering Aragon and presided by the Moncayo, a place of gardens and forests, and the Soria Plateau, land of cereals and beet in the fertile plaine of the Douro.
It would be necessary to emphasise, the north zone that limits with the Rioja region, poor and rough zone but with important coal resources, and the zone of pine forests, with the Urbión's Peaks, place of birth of the Douro and the mythical Black Lagoon that inspired the poet Antonio Machado.

Burgo de Osma is located at the southwest of the Soria province, in an emplacement in which fertile plaines, pastures and heights, come together.
The geographical frame is one of a synthesis of the landscape tipical of the old Castile, that of rocky mountains and the quiet valley of the Burgo de Osma, between the high Soria plateau and the bank of the Douro, in the confluence of the rivers Ucero and Abión, in an emplacement that brings together fertile valleys and plains with scarp and abrupt profiles, allowing simultaneously the rest and contemplation as well as the renewal of the spirit.
